In order to improve the efficiency and quality of pavement construction, the asphalt concrete side mould installation machine was designed based on the side mould installation technology, and the overall design scheme of the side mould installation system was proposed. The side mould installation system was composed of a side mould exit device, an automatic hook device and a nail shooting device, among which the side mould ejection device was consisted of a positioning card, an ejection ramp slide, push blocks and air cylinders; the automatic hook device was mainly composed of magazineclip device, pushing device, hoolc device and a connecting rod structure; the nailing device was composed of air nail gun, positioning modules and three-coordinate workbench. The 3D models of the structure of each part of the side mold installation system were built by the UG software to perform virtual assembly and the rationality of the design was verified. The results show that the walking system of asphalt concrete side mould installation machine can work automatically according to the direction of the construction and the designed side mould installation system can realize the intelligentization of side mould paving, which can improve the quality of paved roads. Compared to the traditional manual paving method, the designed asphalt concrete side mould installation machine has the advantages of reliable structure, high efficiency, easy operation, good safety performance and less pollution.The research results can provide a reference for the optimization of fully automated side mould equipment in the future.Combined with asphalt paver,the system can be applied to the construction to improve pavement quality comprehensively.
